I wish I had someone in my life when I was younger that would have been able to coach me with specific skills and qualities when my kids were young. I needed to grow in regulating my nervous system by gaining a better understanding of my PTSD. Raising kids has its challenges, but when you add PTSD into the mix you need support from trained people to help you navigate your relationships. You want someone by your side who hears you, who sees your pain, and understands your challenges.
I am a certified life coach with special training in Trauma Informed Care. Within this framework we can set up goals to develop skills that consider the pervasive nature of trauma and how your nervous system is affected within your relationships.
I believe the mind, spirit and body are all connected. I integrate ways to incorporate new neural pathways that change old patterning using choice, safety, and relational connections. As a Christian, I can incorporate scripture that helps develop a healthy view of God as a loving Father who wants to connect with our heart.
I feel it is vital to those who have experienced trauma to gain perspective to how stress impacts your body. I bring an aspect of somatic understanding within our sessions that bring awareness and help develop better emotional regulation. Those of us with a trauma background have learned to shut our feelings down and therefore we miss the cues our bodies are trying to communicate that help us feel safe, understood and move us beyond feeling stuck.
I can’t remember who said this, but it left an impression on me: “I’m not safe if I can’t self-regulate.” When we feel out of control because we get lost in fight, flight or fawn we will not feel a sense of safety, nor be able to help our children feel safe. I can help your children by helping you.
If you want to grow in your relationship with God, your husband, children, and friends I’m here to help. Growth is hard work, but it offers a great reward. I’d love to come along side of you to help you on your journey.
